Recordings of the Colorado Springs Chamber Music Society were done by Kirby Stewart, Recording Engineer.
Many audio recordings from the Colorado Springs Chamber Music Society from 1971-1974 can be sampled on this web site. Recording live audio at this time in history was much more challenging than it is now. Kirby used his, at the time most professional machine available, Ampex, 10” reel-to reel, half-track tape recorder with microphones borrowed from the local stereo music store. They are great considering that these recordings have survived by copying the originals to another quarter-track reel-to-reel tape recorder, then to DAT tape, and finally to Digital .wav format. Too bad these performances were not recorded with the great equipment we have today. There were no videos. Please enjoy these excellent performances.
